Correcting Vision; which Lasik Procedure is right for you

The the word Lasik is a collective term for the many Laser eye surgeries performed today in the most eye care centres and hospitals in India today. Not everyone can make a good candidate for the Lasik eye surgery, but an evaluation can be considered to know your success chances.

LASIK eye surgeries are a hope today for many with blurry vision, corneal problems, and many refractive errors that pose as a problem when it comes to mere vision, reading, driving, or when it comes to work issues.

A well performed Lasik surgery can help a patient achieve 20/20 vision or far better than that when a suitable Lasik eye surgery is performed or when a good evaluation and surgery are performed by the surgeon.

When it comes to a Lasik Eye Surgery in India, a well trained eye surgeon uses a laser to correct the underlying refractive error which may be Myopia (Nearsightedness), Hyperopia (Farsightedness), and Astigmatism. Some Lasik eye surgeries involve creating a flap using a blade (microkeratome) or a laser (Femtosecond). By using an excimer laser, the corneal shape is altered to give better vision.

Options for Correcting Vision in Eye Centres

There are various solutions when it comes to correcting refractive errors. You may never know the best option until you visit an Ophthalmologist at the leading eye centre in India. Usually, Lasik eye surgeries will eliminate the need for eyeglasses or contact lenses. Look at the following options in case you have any refractive error;

Laser-assisted subepithelia keratectomy (LASEK)

It is a Lasik eye surgery where a specialized device known as a Microkeratome is used to create a flap and also expose the cornea to ethanol. LASEK is best for those with thin corneas.

Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK)

This is considered the best error refractive surgery over any other surgery when it comes to severe myopia. In this, the epithelial lining of the eye is scrapped rather than creating a flap. The corneal abrasion will heal by itself within 6 days or a week. One will experience blurry vision and mild pain during the recovery process, but they will fade with time.

Epithelial laser-assisted in-situ keratomileusis (eip-Lasik)

By using a tool known as the epikeratome, the eye surgeon will separate the epithelium from from the middle part of the cornea (Stroma) and will then use a laser to reshape the cornea.

LASIK eye surgeries are expensive, but as compared to a decade back, they have become more effective and promising. A Lasik Eye Surgery cost in India is considered to be $14,000 in some major hospital. This applies to one eye, but the price may reduce or hike depending on the hospital selected.

Bioptics

This eye treatment combines two eye treatment procedures such as a Lasik surgery and implantable lenses. It may not be the best option for those seeking the best refractive error treatments. So consider your surgeon’s advice.

Surgically Implanted Lenses

This is suitably done when treating Cataract. During the surgery, the cloudy lens is surgically removed and corrective lenses are fixed to improve vision.

LASIK eye surgeries are associated with various side effects which include dryness syndrome, blurry vision and so on. These fade with time.
